- 1. The taxonomy of the genus Scilla s.l. is not yet satisfactorily resolved. However, both morphological and molecular data clearly show that Scilla in its wide sense is a polyphyletic assemblage. While some of the alternative generic delimitations are more clear-cut than others, and although sampling is far from complete, we chose a preliminary approach to recognize clades within Scilla s.l. as segregate genera.
