Some records of this S African taxon may in fact belong to Kniphofia x praecox Baker, cultivated in many varieties and kown to have escaped from cultivation at least in Belgium (Verloove 2020: http://alienplantsbelgium.be/content/kniphofia-x-praecox), Great Britain (Sell & Murrell 1996: 255) and Spain (Aymerich in Orsis 30: 152. 2016).
